Slice of life moments are here. The original format of the series is now very prominent in this episode which is the 4-koma style unlike the first episode which seems to be the conventional one. We could break down the whole episode into three different parts.
Miyamura's first name
I always forget that Japanese always last names to address persons outside family in general. And this segment was a great reminder of that.
Hori's struggle to know Miyamura's first name without asking him directly created some light comedy moments including the one in the screenshot. Mother teasing their child/children to their probably love interest will always be funny. Also, I like the part where Ishikawa casually brought up his healing heart. In the end, Hori finally told her struggle and Miyamura's concern was finally answered as well. She does not only know his first name, but also called him by his first name shyly. Yes, we need that some bit of progress towards their budding relationship.
Student Council commotion
To be honest, I do not like this student council drama. It felt unnecessary but that is just me though. However, Miyamura saved it for me with just one head-butt out of nowhere. I thought removing the glasses was just for an additional cool points though. Hilarious indeed.
Aside from that, we got to know more characters that might be recurring in the future episodes which is basically the student council members. SC President's connection with Hori though was unexpected. I may not like the drama but their future appearances may bring more comedy especially how the segment ended.
Hori's Birthday
It all started when Ishikawa brought up the topic to Miyamura because he wanted to give her a gift despite being turned down. The sincerity is admirable and quite relatable on personal level I guess. Miyamura also thought of giving her a birthday gift as well. It became a serious talk while playing pingpong, of all the things, then a long rally ensued.
Good one.
Meanwhile, Hori's thought of Miyamura not seeing them in their house someday made her anxious. And his brother knows too much already for just 2 episodes.
Then Hori's birthday came and the intro scene comes to purpose. Miyamura gave her a music CD as a birthday gift. Hori might not remember what happened in the intro scene but in some way, she noticed Miyamura's effort. For some reason, I am wondering, why she is not asking him, why he is giving her a gift. Is it normal for Miyamura to do this considering his kindhearted nature or is Hori simply just special to him? It might be too early for the series for now to show this and also, I am maybe too eager to see this.
Well, let us be patient then.
Overall, a decent episode. I particularly enjoyed this episode's format
and using small details from each segments if any, that will be relevant in the future episodes and maybe towards, the main characters' progression.
